The Case of the Missing Cupcake

CfE Experiences and Outcomes

I know that we all experience a variety of thoughts and emotions that affect how we feel and behave, and I am learning ways of managing them. HWB 0-2a.

I understand that there are people I can talk to and that there a number of ways I can gain practical and emotional support in a range of circumstances. HWB 0-3a.

1. Sharing the Learning Outcomes -

• I can link my feelings to how I behave
• I understand what happens if I am not truthful
• I can learn about the impact of my behaviour on others

2. Active Learning - Before you begin the story, explain to the children that they are going to be detectives!  Agree on the skills required e.g. good listening.  Read the story.  Engage the class in discussion around “who dunnit”.  This can be done as a whole class or in groups.

3. Demonstrating Understanding - Children should share their conclusions and be able to explain why using clues from the story.

4. Review and Recall – Plenary would be through;

• I can link my feelings to how I behave
• I understand what happens if I am not truthful
• I can learn about the impact of my behaviour on others
