Who Do You Trust?

CfE Experiences and Outcomes

HWB 0 – 16a - I am learning to assess and manage risk, to protect myself and others, and to reduce the potential for harm when possible.

HWB 0 – 44b - I understand positive things about friendships and relationships but when something worries or upsets me I know who I should talk to.

TCH 0 – 04a - I enjoy exploring and using technologies to communicate with others within and beyond my place of learning.

1.

Sharing the Learning Outcomes - • I can identify when the wolf was pretending to be someone else
• I can begin to explore the meaning of trust
• I can say who I would go to for help if something wasn’t right on the computer (five finger helpers)
• I know what to do if someone or something makes me feel uncomfortable online

2. Active Learning – Read the story Little Red Riding Hood. Discuss how trusting Red Riding Hood was. Could she see the difference, did she know it wasn’t right? Use the first activity online to let the children find the avatar for Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.

3. Demonstrating Understanding –  Discuss what Little Red Riding Hood could have done to keep safe. Who could she have gone to for help? How do we know when someone is being nice compared to someone just pretending to be nice? Who can we trust? Ask the class to make a list of five people they could trust, one for each finger (five finger helpers.) Use the second online activity to let the children choose examples of people they could trust.

4. Review and Recall – How do we know we can trust others on the computer?
What could you do if you think something isn’t right on the computer?
Who could you ask for help? (five finger helpers)
