Get Across Town

CfE Experiences and Outcomes

I know that we all experience a variety of thoughts and emotions that affect how we feel and behave, and I am learning ways of managing them. HWB1-02a

1. Sharing the Learning Outcomes -

• I can appreciate that how I behave in the community has an effect on other people
• I can make the right choices to keep me safe
• I am beginning to understand what rights I have and the responsibilities which go with these

2. Active Learning - Prior to beginning this game split class into teams (or conduct with a small group).  Explain that in order to get across town children must choose the correct answer to the question.  The questions will change, so the game can be played more than once. Ensure that children understand the need to come to a shared answer and turn take.

3. Demonstrating Understanding - The children will be able to explain the reasons for their answers before making a decision

4. Review and Recall – Plenary would be through;

• Discussion around which answers were easy and difficult
• Ask children to compare questions and answers to their own experiences
• Encourage children to learn more about the ones they were unsure of and share with their peers
